They say, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

In my opinion that’s exactly what I am doing- to the best of my ability each and every day. If I can be someone who hopes to see each person be the best they can be and helping them to understand their ‘imperfection’ in a loving and respectful way, I would only hope others would be living with the same desire, in the same manner. Everything I say to the ones I love I am also saying to myself. We are a mirror-image of one another and when I am pointing out their ‘imperfections,’ I am pointing out my own as well. Together we are learning that we can fix them and be better than that because now we have the awareness that we once didn’t have.

So that’s Step #1- the next step is Up to You.

At the end of the day you are the one making the choices in your life. So I refer to something my workout coach recently said during our endurance training. She repeated it again and again and it was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment, so much so that I was more concerned about remembering what she said then the workout I was doing. She said, “Your brain only remembers the last thing you do. That’s why its so easy to go back to that.” “Make this set you’re best because you will remember that and continue to do better.” That’s where the lasting change will come from- it’s not only having the awareness and making the first step towards what we say we want but it’s sticking to it. Otherwise you will spiral right back to where you were before. It takes patience, understanding, resistance, and strength (trust me it can feel so immense) but as hard as it may seem in moments we need to constantly say to ourselves.
